Battery backup for Airport Extreme?

Here's the deal. Bar exams across the country are being pushed back and will be given remotely via the web. Every directive I've read so far states that if your power goes out you fail. So...any ideas for protecting the router from a power outage? Also considering using a cellular jetpack. Thanks in advance.

Not sure what sort of Internet you have.. but if power goes out you need to power the modem as well as the router.

Easiest is therefore a UPS. You don't need a very big one.. since the combined draw of modem and router would be around 20W. Most UPS should give you an output wattage.. 600 or 800W but will normally only last for 10min to allow for proper shutdown. I would buy UPS as I think it is better and more reliable than Cellular hotspot devices. And then disconnect power and see how long it can keep the system up. It could also help if the laptop battery is running low.. you can plug into UPS as well.. although watch the power load.

I bought an old UPS for a few dollars and wired it to a car battery. That makes for a very long time off power.

Of course a major blackout will likely drop out your internet suppliers cable equipment anyway. This is where using 4G ITE router or hotspot may work better.. but they can still dropout and give very slow speeds.
