What happens to iCloud Drive when you factory reset your Mac?

I want to factory reset my Macbook, but want to keep my files/documents. I have my Desktop and Documents folders on iCloud Drive, but I know that it syncs with your devices, so what would happen if I factory reset? Would the files on there be wiped out with it?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.13

Yes if you erase the hard drive ( the documents and files will erase ) , and then reinstall Mac OS the documents will not install unless you set up Mac https://support.apple.com/guide/macbook-pro/set-up-your-mac-apd831707cb3/mac

And set up iCloud Drive https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204025 and turn on desktops and documents https://support.apple.com/en-in/guide/mac-help/mchle5a61431/10.14/mac/10.14

Note : before erasing the hard drive turn on iCloud drive and keep the box of desktops and documents box so that files / documents could be saved on iCloud.com
