In Final Cut Pro importing Quicktime .mov (older format) and the conversion to H.265 mpeg 4. Final Cut Pro version 10.4.8. Please advise. Thank you.

Luis, thank you for the prompt reply. Final Cut Pro version 10.4.8. and Mac OS 10.15.5 (19F101).
I do have the other tools you have mentioned. I will go back to that route.
Maybe the next release FCP can include these features in an upgrade.

What is the problem?
What version of FCP and macOS?
If you have some movies that Quicktime Player cannot play, try converting them with HandBrake.
You can’t use FCP to convert stuff to H265, unless you also have Compressor. If the goal is just to convert something to H265, use HandBrake.
Importing the old 32 bit codecs is certainly not going to happen.
Exporting to H265 might.
