The App in question is the Ithuba Lottery App.
It is in contravention with applicable laws in the Republic of South Africa.
The App and it’s provider/s are not compliant with the FIC Act and respective Anti-money laundering and terrorist financing laws of the Republic of South Africa. This Act clearly states that any party conducting business of this nature, needs to verify their customers, by means of Indentity Document confirmation and an Address verification document. I was able to register, deposit funds, make purchases and also withdraw funds from this App, without the necessary FIC Act requirements being met.
Further to this, the App and the provider’s website is not compliant in terms of performing RSA ID verification to prevent underage gambling. The applicable gambling age in the Republic of South Africa is 18 years of age. The App and provider/s are wilfully endangering the lives of minors by promoting an unsafe and unlawful application and website by not verifying that registered users are of the relevant age to purchase the products that the App sells.
I am currently compiling a report to the Financial Intelligence Centre of Republic of South Africa and considering laying charges related to child endangerment and promotion of underage gambling against the App providers and related parties.
I implore you to review my grave concerns and suspend the Ithuba Lottery (National Lottery) application immediately, until the application provider/s can supply the necessary documentary proof that their application and their website is fully compliant with the Financial Intelligence Centre Act 38 of 2001 of the Republic of South Africa and does RSA ID verification to combat child endangerment and promotion of underage gambling.
