When I try to backup my phone to iCloud, the progress bar gets stuck

When I try to backup my phone, the progress bar gets stuck and the number of minutes remaining keeps increasing with no progress being made. I’m connected to WiFi and plugged in. I tried reducing the amount of data being backed up, but it didn’t help. Any suggestions?
