MacBook Air or MacBook Pro? (Student).

Hi!

I know this question has been asked a lot of times but I still see people giving conflicting advice.

I’m debating between purchasing the 2020 (8th gen i5, 512gb, 8gb ram) MacBook Pro or the 2020 (10th gen i5, 512gb, 8gb ram) MacBook Air. I know the MacBook Air has some heating issues, but I’ve heard the lower end pro isn’t much better? (I will absolutely not go beyond the £1499).

This will be primarily for university work, writing essays and notes, making PowerPoints, scientific posters and research. I don’t require any special programmes. I’ll also want to use it to watch things like YouTube and Netflix.

This isn’t necessary, but I’d also like to play sims 4 on it. But again, if it’s not possible on the better model you suggest I’m not too bothered.
