Breach of My iCloud Account

I received a phone call from 540-465-**** stating that my iclound account has been breached and that I should call a particular telephone number to speak to Apple ICloud Support about the matter before using any of my apple devices again. Is this a real issues that might be known to Apple or is it a scam?

It is a very common scam attempt.

Apple does not make such calls.

All such calls are scams from criminals attempting to steal your personal and financial information. The callers will often use number spoofing to pretend they are calling from a legitimate business. The correct course of action is to hang up on them, repeatedly if needed.
