Can I Backup My Playlists?

How Do I Backup My Playlists?

Is there some kind of manual regular backup that I should be doing, so that I don't lose my Playlists? Exporting, Library.xml, Music.txt, Export Library, Export ALL Playlists, something like that?

I would be very upset if I lost all of my Playlists and Smart Playlists.

What specifically do I back up to save the playlists?

MacBook Air (Retina, 13-inch, 2019)

macOS Catalina 10.15.5

Music 1.0.5.14

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.15

Keep a full backup of the Music folder, and your media folder if it is in a separate location as a result of earlier incarnations as iTunes. Exporting the whole library as an XML file will let you reimport all lists at once, assuming the media files are in the correct locations. Exporting individual lists would allow a more granular approach.

As a Mac user you can take advantage of Time Machine to keep incremental backups of the entire state of the Music library. You can use File > Library > Export Library and File > Library > Export Playlist to export the whole library (sans media files) or individual lists.

Please explain how to export individual playlists and how to export my whole library as an XML file. All of my media is automatically saved in my Music folder if it is found in another location.
