Updates not possible

I have a new computer. There are now 5 updates that I have been unable to have - every time I get the message "The iTunes store is unable to process purchases at this time. Please try again later. (these are free upgrades eg: keynote, pages, numbers, imovie, garage band). Advice welcome.

Try - If you can't connect to the iTunes Store, iBooks Store, or App Store - Apple Support
