Why won’t my iPad sync with my computer

Why doesn’t my iPad sync with my computer.? I get a repeated pinging sound and a flashing iPad icon in Finder.

That is a symptom of a less than perfect Lightning Cable. Try another cable, or a different USB port on your computer.
