iPhone charger melted while I was sleeping last night
Woke up today with my charger melted into the carpet. What the heck Apple ???

That is actually a cable. What kind of power adapter was it plugged into.

Apple states that using a non Apple charger can cause problems. If you have used one, then It's not their responsibility.
I suggest you contact Apple and discuss this with them. It's between you and them. Nothing we here can do for you. Good luck.

About a year ... seems to be the expiration date with every Apple product
