Just purchased new iPhone and as benie given 1 yr free subscription to Apple TV. Downloaded Apple App and signed on. Started watching/streaming but after a few days Apple TV claimed I didn't have a subscription and was unable to use. Any thoughts?.

Did you redeem the offer on your new device?
Did you receive a confirmation email about the new subscription?
Is your subscription (still) listed as active in your subscriptions overview?
I wonder if perhaps you have been viewing free sample episodes without any subscription.
