I found my old iPhone 5 in a closet and figured one of the kids could use it to play games on. The problem is that it’s under my old email which was hacked. How ca. I factory reset my old phone so I can get it cleaned out and fix it with my current Apple ID.

If necessary, if you are the original owner, contact Apple. Apple can remove the Activation Lock if provided the required paperwork. Either take the device, the original purchase receipt with the serial number, and a photo ID to the nearest Apple Store (if it has reopened)

You won't be able to return it to factory fresh because there is no way to remove an an Apple ID from the device if it was hacked in there. The device is useless to you.
