Audiobook

I have download an audiobook but can't add it to either my iTunes library or my Apple Books library. I can play it in iTunes, but only if I click on the title in the Music file in the Finder. I don't have an Audiobooks category in the "Library" section of my iTunes sidebar, and yes I have clicked "edit" to get a reading of the full list possible: Audiobooks is not there. I am using version 12.9.5.5 of iTunes. An earlier version of iTunes did have an Audiobooks category, and I never had any problem finding audiobooks in iTunes then. What should I do?

Hey there, palamabron1!

We see you are trying to get an audio book you've downloaded into either Apple Books or Music on your Mac. We'd be happy to help!

The Music app on your Mac does not have an audio book category, as the Apple Books app has taken over audio book playback. If you've purchased an audio book from iTunes in the past, or the Apple Books Store on your Mac, it should appear in your library in the Books app: Listen to audiobooks in Apple Books - Apple Support.

If you've downloaded the audio book from another source (like Audible), you may be able to drag and drop it into the Books app. Or, you might need to import it into Music: Import music from a computer to Music on Mac - Apple Support. If you import it into Music, it will be listed as an audio/music track, not specifically an audio book.

Should you still be unable to get your audio book working, don't hesitate to respond back.

Cheers!
