'deleted' process taking up high % CPU

Hi,

I have a 2012 iMac. I've encountered an issue with a process thats running called 'deleted', the parent process of which is 'launchd' (1) and part of the process group 'deleted (618)'. This process takes up anywhere from 5% - 30% of my CPU at all times.

I have a feeling this may be due to starting a download of iMovie a long time ago, and upon doing all of the updates to my computer, it was not able to complete the download. I'm unsure if this is connected, but this iMac is generally otherwise fine (despite its age).

Does anyone have any advice for what I can do? Thanks!

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode?

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.

EtreCheck is a simple little diagnostic tool to display the important details of your system configuration and allow you to copy that information to the Clipboard. It is meant to be used with Apple Support Communities to help people help you with your Mac. It will not display any personal info.

Pastebin is a good place to paste the whole report if you capture the URL while there…

Whew, they've changed pastebin & made it harder, but after pasting in, click Create new paste button, then Embed button, then copy the URL...

The important part is...

Workable but harder for me to work with...the Note tool on the bottom of this editor's toolbar, as shown in the image, to copy and paste the output from EtreCheck. In a Reply before you click post, look for this to add longer texts...

Hi BDAqua,

Thanks for that! Here is the report:

<script src="https://pastebin.com/embed_js/rPztRnQv"></script>

Safe Mode still seems to have the same slow loading issue, however it seems:

a) Minimally better when on Chrome (I did notice that a Chrome Renderer had a high CPU usage in the Activity Monitor when I was initially looking, but;

b) I can't open the Activity Monitor in Safe Mode, evidently.

Thanks for quiding me through this!
