iTunes windows

So I try to drag a custom playlist from my iTunes to my iPhone and it does not let me. I contact apple and was told this is no longer possible and was told to sync so I sync once and have loads of other music I didn’t want on my phone so I reset my phone and re did this I checked my settings making sure I have to select what I want to sync and I click what I want to sync and then click sync and it still syncs loads of other stuff can anyone help me stop this from happening because I only want this playlist on my phone?

Thanks in advance.

It sounds as though you have iTunes set to Sync Entire Library to the phone. Instead, change the setting to Sync Selected playlists, artists, albums and genres.

You do that by connecting the iPhone to iTunes and when the device icon appears at the top of the iTunes window, click on it. (Do not click on the heading that says "on my device".) iTunes will display the Device/Settings/Summary pane. Switch to Device/Settings/Music pane

You will see the Sync options, which are:

  1. Entire music library
  2. Selected playlists, artists, albums and genres

Choose the second one and this will cause iTunes to display additional sections; Playlists, Artists,Albums and Genres. In those sections, select the items that you want on your phone (so in the Playlists section, find the Playlist you want and click to add the tick in the box).

You now have to click on the Sync (or Apply) button in the lower right corner of iTunes in order for this change to your selections to take effect.

That's it.
