Will my corrupt info from my current phone be passed on to the upgrade phone I plan to get?

Lost data Message came on phone that data was no longer working and needed upgrade. I phone 7. Directions said to hook to computer to do this. Computer 12 years old and no longer can be upgraded. I have only had I phone since I got a smart phone. I had to switch phones, but cannot afford a new I phone or computer to upgrade this one. Any other options that anyone knows of.
