The technical specs for fcpx lists Metal-capable graphics card as required. But when purchasing a Mac Mini you have the option of including fcpx. How is this possible if the Mac Mini doesn't have a Metal-capable graphics card? Does it install an older version of fcpx? Which one?

The graphics in the Mac mini are Metal compatible. They may not be great, but they should work. I’d suggest getting the trial version and seeing for yourself. Buying applications preinstalled has no advantage and is a major pain as you are responsible for configuring it in the App Store.

That doesn't have a separate graphics card. It's integrated with RAM, and the graphics are processed in software. This is not ideal for FCP. I would not recommend the computer for video editing applications.
Yes. It's essentially the same. The 2020 (actually 2018 as it hasn't been updated) has the advantage of a better processor and faster ports so you can connect high speed SSDs. It can also have more RAM. It's still not great for FCP.

Thank you. I searched the web but haven't found anything confirming Intel UHD Graphics 630 is metal-capable. Is there a list showing which integrated graphics cards are metal compatible?
I'm asking because I'm also considering a 2012 mac mini which has an Intel HD Graphics 4000. Is that integrated graphics card metal compatible?
Apple is currently building only Metal compatible machines. There is a list of after market Metal capable graphics cards.
