How can Apple help me with my iPad that fell into water and how much would it cost to check it?

Make an appointment at the nearest Apple Store. they will evaluate the device and explain your options. If your store is closed, To contact Apple directly, click on Contact Support at upper right corner of any forum page.

In addition to frizzm737's comments, please be aware that your iPad's hardware warranty does not cover liquid damage. Apple typically does not repair devices with this type of damage, but will offer to sell you a replacement. How much that would cost would depend on, whether or not, you elected to get an AppleCare+ plan when you purchased this iPad.
