Retrieve old text messages or photos

My phone broke down and was fixed a few days ago. I lost a very important picture and a text message, I had an iCloud backup that only has around 300 pictures (I had over 6k). Is there a way I can retrieve text messages from October/November? As I’ve read that these data are never lost, but transferred somewhere else in an encrypted form.
