Stuck in Target Disk mode on 2017 MacBook Pro Touch Bar

Hi there. I just got done moving over all my information from my MacBook Pro to another machine. The MacBook Pro is currently on that screen that shows the USB logo and the Thunderbolt logo along with the green battery gauge at the bottom. I cannot figure out how to either exit out of this mode OR to even power down the machine now. I've obviously tried holding down the power button/Touch ID button for a while. Tried doing it with and without the power cord plugged into it. Tried holding command-control-power as well and that did nothing. Tried closing the lid and opening it, no difference. Still just getting that same screen.

Is my best bet just to wait for the battery to die and then power it back up? Any other suggestions? thanks!

Perform an SMC reset then. This will power off the laptop (it may even power on again).

First of all, I appreciate your reply but I did say in my description above "I've obviously tried holding down the power button/Touch ID button for a while." Way longer than 10 seconds. First thing I tried.

I got in touch with apple support and they were clueless. Same with the "senior advisor" that the call was escalated to. At this point I'm waiting for the battery on the computer to die, and praying that when I plug it back in and attempt to power it on, that it will reboot normally and not back to this 'target disk mode.'
