Is there a way to save a recent iPhone back up stored on the iCloud to my computer. The phone stopped working right after the back up, so I want to make sure no new backups are saved over that one when I reboot an old (temporary) phone. I just do not want to lose that last back up in case my old phone, while turned on, backs up to the cloud.

No.
iCloud backups are stored online in iCloud. They are safe there.
You’re welcome. And you’ll be fine. As long as each device has its own unique device name, no backups will collide and over-write any other device’s backup.
Just make sure to give that old device a unique device name. Backup files are based on the device name of each device backing up to your iCloud account. I have five devices, each with a unique name, so I have five backups in iCloud. None has anything to do with any of the others.
Right. The part I was not clear on was whether or not the old phone I am trying to connect until I get my replacement phone would back up to iCloud and replace the current back up from my now malfunctioning phone. Thank you.

Thank you. That is the piece I was missing. I just was not sure if the old phone I am trying to connect (at least to wifi until I get the replacement phone) would replace the date from the current/malfunctioning phone.
