transferring data

I backed up data to iCloud on my Mac from my iPad2. I got a new iPad mini today, but can figure out how to transfer the data from the old to the new iPad. I connected the new iPad to my Mac, there seemed to be no way to register it on the Mac. Has anyone done this?
