why is one airpod louder than the other?

Check the audio settings on the audio source to see if the volume balance is favoring the left or right channel. If you're using an iPhone, tap Settings > Accessibility > Audio/Visual, then ensure the balance is set evenly between the channels: Adjust audio and visual settings on iPhone - Apple Support

I had the same problem my right one was quieter then the left one i would recommend doing this it might be a bit quiet but to be honest it’s better then having one louder then the
