Search album by resolution

I'm looking for a way to search my Photos library by photo resolution. I've been creating an archive of my parents family photos and have scanned around 12,000 photos, slides and negatives and I'd like to distinguish between these different scanned formats using keywords (Scanned from Photo, Scanned from Slide, Scanned from Negative). Unfortunately, I didn't think to do this as I was adding the scanned items to the library, so I'm trying to come up with a way to do this after the fact. There is one distinguishing factor between the three different formats: each was scanned at a different resolution, something noted in the Finder's information for each file. Photos are 600 x 600, slides 3200 x 3200, and negatives 1600 x 1600.

I wish there was a way to add more detailed search criteria such as this when creating smart albums. Though I love the convenience of smart albums, the power is often lacking. For example, there's no way to say, "find photos of only mom", or "find photos of dad with only Gina". I can do this, of course, with keyword workarounds (One Person, Two People, Three People, etc), but doing so on a large library is... painful.

Thanks!

if you have been using different scanner models when scanning at a different resolution you could create a smart album based on the camera model.

You can also try to search for photos based on the pixel size using an Apple Script.

Here is an example of such a script: Script: Search for Photos by the Dimensions in Pixel Size, 2019 version

Your post is showing the system version as macOS 10.12. Then the script should work for any album.

On macOS 10.15 Catalina you should collect the photos to be checked in a top level album, not an album nested in a folder.

If your photos are all in the same format, for example the same JPEG quality, the file size should roughly correspond to the resolution. In that case you could use the free trial version of PowerPhotos to sort the photos by the file size. https://www.fatcatsoftware.com/powerphotos/

PowerPhotos can display your photos in a list view, with the metadata in columns. You can add the filesize as a column. By clicking the column headers you can sort the photos.
