So recently i sent my 2016 MacBook pro 15" to get the keyboard replaced and was just wondering if anyone knew if apple would replace it with the same gen. 1 butterfly keyboard or gen. 2 or 3, any info would help!

okay, so it turns out the keyboard is actually just the second gen. i guess the 3rd gen isnt compatible with 2016/2017 versions of the butterfly keyboard.
Well, we do not know the exact replacement part Apple may use, but, usually, Apple replaces parts with the same model/size/specs as the defective part.
It will be the same as what you now have. Apple still makes parts for your model because it is not yet obsolete. That will not likely happen until 2022 or 2023.
