Connect my Macbook Pro (2019 two thunderbolt 3 ports) to my iMac (late 2015).

How can I connect my Macbook Pro (2019 two thunderbolt 3 ports) to my iMac (late 2015). The iMac has two Mini display ports. I bought a USB-C with Mini display port connector and attached it directly from the iMac to the Macbook Pro, but it is not working. I want to use my iMac as my secondary display.

Yes, the work around is to buy an external display and connect it to your MBP, the good news external displays have come way down in price and they work right out of the box assuming you have the correct adapters.

We see 5, 10, 20 posts like yours every day and the answer is always the same no it does not work and no there are no work arounds. The work around is getting an external display. I realize this is not what you wanted to hear however the truth is the truth.

For Display you cannot...

Target display mode requires macOS High Sierra or earlier on the iMac used as the external display. It does not work with macOS Mojave or later.
