Does Apple still replace old iPod batteries?

I recently found my old 4GB 3rd generation iPod Nano, but it only works when plugged in if unplugged it shuts off immediately. I have established this is because the battery is bad and needs to be replaced. I was wondering if apple still could replace the battery of the iPod or if they no longer do that because it is so old?

Apple does not do repairs of older nanos, and I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself. The batteries are very hard to replace, however you may be able to find someone to do it.
