That would depend what model/year macBook Pro you are asking about and what version OS it currently has installed.
depends on what year your MacBook was released.
My 2010 MacBook air is running Mojave while the 2011 is having trouble getting past el cap.
there is a page on the apple store that expanse what OSX can be installed on certain MacBooks and macs.
for the record, high sierra is solid and can do most things in 2020.
