Hey there Viaduk04,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We understand iCloud Photos folder and shortcuts are being duplicated unexpectedly. We’ll be happy to help with this.

Before you do any further troubleshooting, make sure you backup your iCloud Photos so that no data is lost. We know how important our photos can be and we want to make sure nothing happens to yours while troubleshooting:

Archive or make copies of the information you store in iCloud

After you do that, remove iCloud for Windows once more using the steps under “Turn off or uninstall iCloud for Windows” in this link:

Set up and use iCloud for Windows

Backup your iTunes library after this:

Back up and restore your iTunes library on your PC

Then remove iTunes and it’s components in the exact order listed in this article:

Remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components for Windows 7 and later

Check for any updates to Windows after this and restart your computer. See if you can remove the folders after this.

If not, reinstall iTunes and then iCloud for Windows. You can find info on installing both in the above links. Try removing the folders once more after this and see if the issue is resolved.

We hope this helps.

Take care.

Hey Viaduk04,

If your iCloud Photos are not syncing to your computer any longer, go through the steps in the following link and see if they have any impact on this. This may also help with the issue with your folders duplicating as well:

If your iCloud Photos aren't loading on your PC

Same problem as the above post. After spending almost two hours doing this it is still impossible to remove the additional 28 iCloud photos folders. The icon next to it on the left goes to a blank folder but right clicking or the delete X on the top of the page are non functional. It seems like every time I open Windows File Explorer it adds another iCloud photos folder to the list. Other posts suggest a regedit and I have tried that but the multiple ghost folders just keep coming back and multiplying. I would like to keep my iPad and iPhone synced with my PC computer as I have in the past but this is making it difficult. There are some programs that cannot run on a Mac computer and so I must continue to utilize the PC. It would be useful if they could play together nicely since I paid for iPhone, iPad and PC. Please investigate and figure out what the problem is that causes this.

Probably easiest way will be to remove windows, format drive and install all again :D half of folders have wright way to photo folder and half folders don't have any way, i think something is messing registry. Maybe there is some safe solution to fix or remove registry. Btw after this problem phone wont send any new photos in folder Uploads/Downloads as before.
