web page loading in text only

I use Safari on my iMac. Recently subscribed to CleanMyMac X and ran a scan. After that, it seems, when I go to Safari and do a Google search on my bank, click on the link, it opens a text only page that lists all the places to go in the bank website. I eventually can find the link that will open the log in page, which was the usual page that opened when I clicked the Google result for my bank. This is irritating. The same thing happens in Firefox and Chrome. So what happened and how can I fix it? I called the bank and they don't seem to think it is at their end. I went in to Safari preferences and unchecked block cookies, but that did not help. Somewhere I read that banks don't like it when cookies are blocked or deleted so I am worried that CleanMyMacX deleted the bank cookies and now I don't know how to get them back (?), if that is the problem. I hope someone out there can help. It seems it should be a simple fix if it is just the appearance of how the page loads initially, but I don't know enough to figure that out.

Hello cathab,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. From your post, it appears there's an issue with a specific website not displaying correctly. We'll do what we can to help.

It might be related to the app you installed. If possible, try temporarily removing the app and accessing the bank's website again.

You can also try the rest of these tips: If Safari doesn't load a page or webpage items are missing

Thanks.
