How is it possible to get special characters in a SSID?

It depends on whether or not your router supports special characters. Mostly it's undocumented so you just have to try it when you create the SSID. Some routers allow you to copy/paste special characters, including emoji, into the SSDI text field.
In any event, putting special characters in your SSID can create problems for devices accessing your network. They're cute but I'd stay away from doing it.

I think you meant "interpreting the information incorrectly." No, I don't think your Mac is interpreting the SSID incorrectly.
You asked how it's possible. As I indicated before, it IS possible with some routers although I do not know of any routers where the capability is documented, nor would I advise doing it.
And in your case, Jadie's Google Home <heart>.k is an unsecured network and I'd stay away from it.

Feel free to let them know what you think via
You can include the url of this discussion so they can see your example.
(But I think it's really obvious that you are mistaken about this)
I am not aware of any router supporting special characters and I placed this issue because I think the Mac O.S. wifi is interrupting the information incorrectly.
I dont know what those google search but I still think this is a corruption of Apples Wifi communications protocol
I think Bob has fished it out.
Also other wifi devices did not see these special characters.

What do they display instead?
Are the other devices not Apple & not equipped with Apple's Emojis? ❤️
