Contacts shared in WhatsApp get saved to gmail, not iCloud

Hello everybody,

when someone sends me a contact via WhatsApp and I save it by creating a new contact, it only appears in my contacts when I choose Gmail under the Contact groups. I would like to save the contact directly to my iCloud contacts. Is there a way of doing this?
