ipod nano 5th require 32 ohm headphones?

hello,
somebody broked my original ipod headphones and now I`m using it with a pair of headphones from Sony. Those headphones had an impedance at 16 ohms.
So the question are:
I must buy a pair of headphones with impedance at 32 ohms such as originals from apple?
Is there a difference between 16/32 ohms headphones while I`m using it to my ipod?

Best regards.

The specs should be available on the apple website but 16 ohm should give you a louder sound which means more volume and possibly the ability to overdrive the volume and the solution is to lower the volume. You will want to lower the volume anyway because 16 ohm headphones can get to loud at higher volume levels. If you know anything about how to calculate power then you would see that lower ohms gives you more current and current multiplied by voltage gives power. Lower ohms means louder sound and more volume but 8 ohms would probably give you to much volume and require twice as much power as 16 ohms and four times as much power as 32 ohms. This effect of very low ohm headphones would make the volume to sensitive and would go from soft to loud with very little volume adjustment. I was looking for a pair of 16 ohm headphones for my iphone and had some for my ipod classic and ipod first generation and liked the extra volume that they provided but the cord broke and now I can only find 32 ohm headphones.... 16 ohm headphones should work for any ipod.

Hello,
this is somehow the answer I was looking for, because some friends of mine, had told me the same thing you did. Except the thing, for low quality products, while using a low impedance for speakers it might be possible to overload the sistem and ... boom both - the source and the speakers.
So, thats why I was afraid it might happend to mi ipod.
But, those days I was looking over the net and I coudn`t find any specs about a special requirement of 32 ohms for ipod. Even the authorised resellers from my country, have told me that 16 ohms shold work fine for every ipod.
Anyway, thanks for your reply.
