Apple Software Update for Windows. Does it exist?

I am still having issues getting iCloud for Windows to run properly on my Windows 10 PC. I uninstalled iCloud and reinstalled it as suggested by someone in the Community. This did not work.

In my attempt to fix this issue I have run across information on Apple's site talking about Apple Software Update for Windows. However, I cannot find it anywhere. Does it exist and/or is it necessary?

Apple software should also be visible in the regular "Updates" settings location in Windows.

I have been unable to get iCloud for Windows to work properly on my Windows 10 PC. The iCloud folder DOES show up in list of items in Windows File Explorer, but iCloud Photos do not. I can access the photos on my MacBook Pro, my iPhone, etc. I can even log into iCloud.com on my Windows PC and see iCloud Photos. But in Windows File Explorer ----- not at all.

I am scheduled for a call from Apple Support on Saturday afternoon, 7/25/20, so I hope that will fix the issue.

The Apple Software Update that I am referring to is mentioned in the following paragraph from an Apple Support document. The implication is that there is software that can be installed on a Windows PC which is supposed to keep Apple software updated. That was the point of the Post that you responded to.

I appreciate your response, but I'm not sure if you understood my issue. Please see the Apple Support paragraph below. The link to the entire page is: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201391

Update your version of iCloud for Windows

To check for updates, open Apple Software Update on your PC. To get notified when an update is available through Apple Software Update, choose Edit > Preferences, and select when you'd like to check for updates. You can choose Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Never.

Sign out of iCloud on your PC before you upgrade and install iCloud for Windows.

Hey richrainenv!

That is my question also. I am beginning to think that this was software that either Apple or Microsoft made available sometime in the past, but is no longer used. Did you try typing in "Apple Software Update" in the Search box in Windows 10 (The box next to the Start button)? When I do, nothing comes up. Kind of suspicious, since this article (see link below) from Apple specifically discusses how to use it.

The one thing I noticed is that in my Google search using the following words "Apple Software Update for Windows 10," the #1 item in the Search return is the article from Apple that I mentioned above. While I could find no date on the actual Apple article, the Google search return shows a date of Dec. 19, 2017. It just seems weird that the article is so specific about HOW to check for the software and HOW to use it, but other than this article, I can find no other information about it. With the 2017 date, it makes me think that it is simply no longer available. This afternoon, I have an Apple Support call scheduled regarding my primary issue; getting iCloud for Windows to work properly on my Windows 10 pc. I will ask about the mysterious Apple Software Update software. If I get any useful information from Apple Support about it, I will update this post. If you find out anything on your own, let me know.

Good luck!

My problems started when I updated to Windows 10 (2004). The update broke the connection between iCloud and Outlook Calendars. By searching I found this link which will solve the problem if this your concern https://discussions.apple.com/thread/251434361?answerId=252829529022#252829529022

Once I had the calendars running as before I noticed the Apple Software Update program was no longer available. I went through my directory tree and found the link was still there but the applesoftwareupdate.msi and files were not. This would be not be the end of the world if I couldn't find the Apple app but it would be nice to have it as before as it would advise when a new update to icloud was available. I can't believe we can't find a link to reinstall this app. But so far I can't find it.

I will check into that to see if my problem with iCloud is the same. As I was reading bout the issue it seemed that Outlook is somehow involved with iCloud for Windows. Since I don't use Outlook.......... maybe that's part of the problem. I will check it out before I talk with Apple Support in awhile.

BTW, I am still running Windows 10 1909

Thanks

In my perusals for the Apple Software Update for Windows, I found a number of people mentioned, "If you download iTunes or reinstall it you will automatically have the update installed. I can tell you that does not work. I have downloaded and reinstalled iTunes several times, but this does not happen. When you talk to the Apple people, perhaps they will resolve this....
