Old iPad mini changed passcode by itself

Anyone ever had an older iPad mini change the passcode itself after restarting? Either that or it’s not interpreting the correct buttons that I am pressing. There’s a small crack in the screen in the lower corner—far from the passcode area. What’s up?

Passcode issue I restored my old iPad to factory settings so that I could give it to my husband. A couple days later he decided to get it going and it’s asking for a passcode. There is no passcode to put in. You can’t get past this point to maybe try to get into settings but you can’t. What the heck is wrong with this iPad?

Unfortunately you must now fully restore your iPad to factory settings.

Please refer to the following Apple Support documents.

If you forgot the passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple Support

If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
