Thanks for the link to the Alpine website. I have seen similar reset tips on AV Forums as people there are also reporting that ios 4.01 breaks their Alpine IDA-X305 link to their iPhone.
I have tried the reset sequence on the iPhone and on the Alpine unit. Twice. I still get the error messages on both devices. 'No USB Device' on the Alpine and something along the lines of 'The accessory you have attached is not optimised to work with this iphone and may cause interference' on the iPhone. Incredibly frustrating. For the record I have the Alpine IDA X305 and a iPhone 3G, 8GB with ios 4.01.
I have a IDAX305 and the IDAX-305s. The straight 305 had USB errors sometimes, generally corrected by a reboot of both devices. Now with the latest Apple Iphone update, I have NO USB DEVICE showing as an error .. and "Not Recognized Compatible Iphone Device" error on the phone when it is plugged in.
BOTH 305's play perfectly with FLASH DRIVES .. but not from my Iphone. So the USB is working on the Alpine head unit, but not outputting the correct protocol from the Iphone?
Any idea how to fix this. I am now restricted to using just a flash drive. I am not sure how to get my Itunes Music to the flash drive so I can use it??
Using an Alpine ida-x305x everything worked fine in ios 4.0 except navigating through songs was slow. I patched to ios 4.1 and now when I connect I get a pop up: "charging is not supported with this accessory". Also, the audio cuts out from time to time and the connection resets. I've reset the head unit with the read button and confirm it does (because the date goes back to Jan 2009) and shutdown and restart the iPhone and there is still no improvement of the issue.
I have the same problem with my Alpine CDE-103BT and my touch 3G. Since IOS 4.1 was installed my car stereo won't recognize my ipod. They will fix this... I went to an Alpine dealer and they said that most car stereo are having the same problem.
Sorry to take this OT, but I've been searching high and low for an answer to a question, and stumbled across this thread because of cross referenced keywords:
I'd like to buy the iDA-X305S along with the KCE-400BT, but I can't get an answer from anyone (Alpine, Crutchfield ... google) as to whether or not voice activated dialing will work when paired to iPhone 3GS. Have any of you gentle(wo)men had this or a similar alpine configuration, and been able to use voice dialing? I'm still on 3.1.3, and again, I apologize for swooping in here, but I'm getting desperate :\
Yea... this is still an issue for me as well. The x305 doesn't have a cd player so you're kind of sol on music if the iphone with 4.1 doesn't work with it...
This problem goes beyond just the alpine units. it is ALL USB devices from Car stereos to Ihomes and more. I myself have a Pioneer head unit with built in Ipod usb adapter and have this problem. there are tones of forums on this right now.
Apple knows about the problem and there are rumors that 4.2 fixes this, but will not be released until Nov. 2010 sometime. 😟
I've been using my 3G up until last Friday, where I tried to add a new playlist and the phone died. Going into recovery mode is no use. So, I got the new iPhone 4.0 with iOS 4.1 (8B117)that is not jailbroken...yet.
I plugged the phone into my IDA-x305 and it seems to work fine (except that bogus message on the phone about compatibility), however I get the occasional cut-out where music stops for a second or so and resumes playing...very annoying. All other functionality appears OK
I managed to fix the problem, but it's not something most of you are going to have the luxury of doing. I downgraded my iPhone4 back to iOS4.0.1. The restores and resets weren't helping, and while turning on airplane mode helped a bit, it didn't fully stop the distortion and skipping, not to mention you lose the ability to use your phone as a phone and you can say goodbye to streaming (Pandora, etc.). If you know how to downgrade I recommend doing so, if you don't, I'm sorry.
I have the os4.1. Will downgrading to 4.0 void my warranty or anything? What are the 'cons' of something like that? I can't take the skipping music any longer. It does it at least 3 times per song. It was fine until I got 4.1.
You would have had to save your SHSH blobs via Cydia or TinyUmbrella in order to downgrade from 4.1. If you don't know what these things are then you definitely have not backed up your SHSH blobs and this is moot anyway. Jailbreaking your phone does not void your warranty, contrary to whatever you may have heard. It is a software modification and nothing more, and you can always restore your phone to factory settings. This restoration is something anyone and everyone should do prior to bringing their device for repair or replacement. Most people have personal data on their device, and it's up to them to secure it by restoring their phone before they hand it off.
