It sounds like you are having issues with the Home button on your iPhone 7.
Try changing your Touch ID settings to "Rest Finger to Open"
Use Touch ID on iPhone and iPad
"To unlock your device using Touch ID without pressing the Home button, go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Home Button and turn on Rest Finger to Open."
Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to iOS 13.6 and restart iPhone to refresh it.
If the issue persists after making these changes, you may need to have the Home button on your iPhone inspected. Contact Apple support for help with this.
