Notification sound when banner disappears.
I have notifications set to not produce a sound, and that works fine. But when a notification banner disappears, a sound (funk) is produced. How can I get rid of that secondary sound?

Hi dwonk786,
Does the issue occur if Do Not Disturb is enabled? You can learn how to enable it here: Use Do Not Disturb on your Mac.
If so, we would recommend testing the issue in Safe Mode. You can learn how to do so here: Safe Mode.
If the issue persists, we would recommend testing in a new User Account. You can learn how to do so here: How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac.
Thanks again!
Hi dwonk786,
We understand you'd like to disable the sound when a notification banner disappears.
Sounds are not usually played when a notification banner disappears.
To make sure the settings are setup correctly, we would recommend reviewing this article: Use notifications on your Mac, and ensure 'Play sound for notifications' is disabled.
Additionally, you can go to: System Preferences > Sound > 'play user interface sound effects', and disable.
Hope this helps!
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
Cheers!
Thank you for responding!
I'm aware that sounds are not played when a notification banner disappears. In my case, the sound effect Basso is played about 80% of the time about a second after the banner is gone. I disabled 'play user interface sound effects', and that seems to have made no difference.
I really need to get this fixed, because I can't have the computer playing sound effects when I'm in a meeting.

Hi, Sterling.
The issue did not occur in Safe Mode, and it has not occurred since I went into Safe Mode. I made another user account and it didn't happen there. Now I'm back in my own account, I've done about ten tests, and it has not recurred. Hopefully it is fixed.
Thank you!
It's happening again. ☹
