I have an iPad 2 that will boot to the apple logo, get stuck indefinitely, then go black and revert to the "dead-but-charging" screen. It will not show up in iTunes or in my USB tree. Anyone got suggestions? I've tried most everything i know - force resetting, all my 30 pins i own, different outlets, and I even let it charge overnight. :I

Like I said - I've tried every method and nothing works. Force reset - nope. Different charger - nope. Different outlet - nope. Letting it charge - nope. Using iTunes - well, my iMacs don't recognize it when connected.
As described, you perhaps have limited options.
iPad2 is now very old (+9 years), update support having been ended by Apple in 2016. Most compatible Apps for 32-bit devices have since been withdrawn from the Apple App Store - as such, even if you do manage to resolve the immediate problem, you’ll not be able to (re)download or (re)install any Apps. The iPad2 is effectively obsolete.
We’re also seeing regular reports of Activation issues for the iPad2 - preventing reuse.
Taken as a whole, as disappointing as this may be, I suggest that you might be best advised to set-aside the old iPad and consider replacement with a newer model. Of current models, even the entry-level iPad7 has specifications and capabilities that are light-years ahead of your old iPad. Other models provide a step-up in both capabilities, features and cost.
As I said, I work on older stuff (pre-2009 usually), so if you want to see my entire collection list to get a good insight into my experience, I can certainly do that. It would hurt your eyes to read the whole thing ;)
I've contacted support twice and they are of no particular help.
I have an XS Max, a patched 2009 27" iMac running Catalina, and a 2017 iPad Pro - I collect older devices. Never planned on using it just wanted a working ipad 2 since i already have gens 1,3,4.
