lost input after toggling between apps

This has been increasingly frequent and very frustrating.

I lose input after toggling between apps or browsers. For example, composing an email in Mail app and I lose all previously inputted text after toggling to a browser, or other app, to copy something, in order to paste it into the email being composed.

After previously searching for a solution I learned of the ‘undo’ key on the iPad ‘number’ sub screen, within the keyboard screen, and was able to recover lost input. Recently however, that option has not been available since the ‘undo’ key is grayed out, indicating it is not available.

Last night this frustrating problem extended to trying to consummate an order online. I needed to toggle between browsers (Safari & Chrome) to copy part #s from one browser and paste it into the search of the other browser tab that was open to my shopping cart. It didn’t happen every single toggle. Sometimes it waited until the very last item and then wiped out my entire cart contents. Other times it wiped out the cart contents after the first toggle back and forth and still other times it occurred during various different steps of my ordering process. I finally had to give up and write down all of the part numbers so I could input them without toggling between tabs or browsers. I might add that this behavior has also occurred when toggling between tabs in the same browser.

It seems these two experiences are related since it occurs after toggling between apps or tabs in a browser. In fact, it happens when toggling between two browsers or between a browser and Mail ‘email compose’ or even toggling between a Notepad note and a Mail ‘email compose’ email I was trying to send.

I will be forever grateful to anyone who helps me to remove this frustrating experience from my use of iPad Pro!
