Alert! Microsoft Office Home & Business 2019 1 pc/Mac. You do not have to buy fro $249!
I recently bought a new Mac Book Pro and was told by the apple employees, I would need to purchase a Microsoft Office license(such as Office Home & Business $249.) for Microsoft Office to work on my Mac Book. This is NOT TRUE!
To install the product on the Mac book, the first step is to log into your Microsoft account or create one if you do not have one. I do so I logged in. When I logged in, on my Mac, all of the same features available with the $249 version, were already free simply by logging into my Microsoft account! And they work on my Mac Book Pro(2020 version). Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc. all are included in your free Microsoft account and work the same way on Mac as they do on any pc.
I contacted Microsoft support to determine what the difference is and why someone would pay $249 for something that is available at no cost. After disregarding the question a few times, Microsoft acknowledged, there is not any difference except you can use it without being connected to the internet if you download the bought version to your Mac or pc. Great! I am always, like most people, connected to the internet when working on my MacBook or using apps in Microsoft. If you are, no need to spend the extra $249. If you spend a lot of time working without the internet, buying the product would be helpful. I am disappointed that I was told by an Apple store employees that I needed to buy the Microsoft license or it wouldn't work. Buyer Beware! I spent a LOT of time..a few months minimum..comparing pc and different versions of Macs prior to purchase and wish I would have done the research on the office products instead of taking the store employee's word.
