Vertical bars on Macbook Air Screen - SOS!

Hi,

My fairly brand new macbook air, bought in April, now has 2 vertical bars on the screen on the left side. One is about 2inches wide and black from the edge, and then another 2 inches of white.

Im on hold with Apple, and of course I've been on hold for about 40 minutes. Anyone have any ideas. Ive already did the Opt+Command+R+P, but didn't work. Only difference is that now the black vertical bar is not showing some erratic static here and there with color lines.

Thanks.

Hi,

I think it's a hardware related issue, you'd better contact Apple support or if nearby retail Apple Store is open, make Genius Bar reservation or find opened Apple Authorized Service Provider to be examined it.

I have learned one thing really well since owning laptop computers in general. Both Mac and Windows. It is extremely difficult to troubleshoot and actually fix a display issue. It is generally related to the display itself, the GPU or the connecting mechanism. In each case, the repair is expensive.

Your MacBook Air is still under warranty. I recommend that you take advantage of it right away. Glad you called Apple Support. The wait is worth it because I am predicting that you will end up shipping it back to Apple for the repair or a replacement.
