Ok, I've tried booting in Safe Mode using the shift key as recommended in the support document from Apple, but this changes nothing. I still get the error listed in the original question when attempting to enable the Honey extension that I just installed from the Apple App store less than an hour ago. Again, this is happening even in Safe Boot mode where it has "safe boot" in red on the login screen.
I'd just use Firefox instead as usual but eBay hasn't been playing well with Firefox lately which is unfortunate.
Check the installed extensions: go to Safari->Preferences->Extensions, and see what extensions there are. The affected extension will be unchecked (turned off).
exactly! And I'm not able to turn them on which was my initial intention. they use to work fine until about 2 system updates ago.

Which extensions are those? There appear to be security issues with them. Maybe there are updated versions?
Was there ever a solution to this? Im having this issue with the Duck Duck Go Privacy Essentials.
None so far. I'm having this issue with all my Safari extensions: DuckDuck, AdBlock and others.
