What does “connected to charger” mean?

My iPad Pro (fairly old) loses battery power. I have it plugged in to power, since I used it instead of a laptop all day. When I go to look at the battery settings, I see “connected to charger” and a long dash after it for a number of apps. What does that Mean? Thanks for your replies ;-)

That's the Battery Usage by App section. When the iPad is used on battery, it would display what percentage of the battery was used by what apps, allowing you to look up which app ate up all your battery charge and if it was justified or not. Since you keep the iPad plugged in all the time, it means there is no battery usage data available for the apps in the displayed interval, because the apps only used power that is sourced from the charger.
