Data transfer from old iphone to new iphone

There are several stages. Does your backup have photos, for example, or do you sync photos to iCloud - iCloud sync and iCloud backup are two different ways of working; anything that you sync will not be in the backup. Instead you sync it from iCloud back to the phone after the rest of the data transfer completes. So excluding photos restoring an iCloud backup should only be a few minutes. After that finishes your apps must be installed from the app store. This is automatic, but depending on how many apps and how large they are this can take a while. Music is also restored from the iTunes store, or synced from your computer. I’ve got about 10,000 music tracks, and syncing it takes several hours over a USB connection from my Mac.

That depends on how much data you have to transfer, how you are transferring it, the speed of your connection, and how long “forever” is.
