Its possible the Netgear adapter does not support the connection type provided by the phone.

I believe it provided a 2.4ghz N type wifi connection.

The security I believe is WPA2-PSK[AES]

The passphrase is whatever you have set as the password in the Personal Hotspot settings on your iPhone.

You cannot use WPS setup, so the passphrase is irrelevant. Use the instructions if your network doesn’t support WPS.

Have you followed these

instructions—>https://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/WNCE2001/WNCE2001_IG_28JULY2010.pdf

Have you turned on the wireless hotspot on your phone (Settings/Cellular - Allow Others to Join)?

Is your phone plugged in (required to have Wi-Fi stay on)?

If it doesn’t detect your hotspot (which will have the same SSID as the name of your phone) then there is a problem in the WNCE2001 setup.
