Is updating safe for my MacBook Pro OS?

Safari 13.1.2 has been having problems lately and I think I just found out why. Could updating High Sierra 10.13.6 to the latest OS possibly cause even worse problems overall?

Is there a way to be notified when there are updates available? I don't want them to be installed automatically but I would like to know when they're available.

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.13

Go on the Apple certificate page:

Download the Apple Intermediate Certificates

Apple IST CA 2 - G1 Certificate (direct download)

Double click the downloaded certificate to install it in Keychain Access.

You should see it now, in login certificates.

Try this browser, I much prefer it to Safari in 10.13.6, but Safari works fin in 10.13.6, just hogs RAM like crazy...

Shall we try to guess what you "just found out"? If it were me I would correct existing problems before upgrading.

Thanks. Auto update was already unchecked, which is why they aren't installed automatically, which is good.

The problem is that I can't do hardly anything with my websites without getting error messages. Firefox and Chrome don't cause any problems. I even had my host walk through it with me and he found exactly the same results.
