Safari quit unexpectedly on my mac and is not opening.

I tried booting in safe mode, but problem persists. I made no changes, just turned on my PC and found out that it is not opening. Please help.

Are you running any anti - virus programs? Using a VPN?

Try setting up another admin user account in System Preferences/Users & Groups to see if the same problem continues. Please post back on whether or not this worked. Also try the Safe Mode. Please post back on whether or not this worked.

Isolating an issue by using another user account

Safe Mode - About.

If it works in the Safe Mode, try running this program when booted normally and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor.  Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown. If the log won’t post, try posting it in Pastebin and provide a link in a reply. After pasting the report in a PasteBin page, go to the top of the page, and copy the address in the URL bar. Paste that in a new reply.        Pastebin.

Greetings aishwariya129,

Thanks for your reply! We see from the steps you've completed that Safari is continuing to experience close unexpectedly. We recommend the following, progressive steps:

  1. Restart the Mac from the  Menu > Restart.
  2. Press Shift while clicking on Safari from the Dock to relaunch the app. This removes the prior application state, and launches Safari with a fresh session.
  3. If the issue persists, boot into macOS Recovery as explained here: About macOS Recovery.
  4. Open Disk Utility and run First Aid, as explained here: How to repair a Mac disk with Disk Utility. Kindly refer to this detailed guide for further tips: Repair a storage device in Disk Utility on Mac.
  5. If any issues are found, follow the steps in the linked guides above to repair the issue.
  6. Should the disk need to be repaired, the repair complete successfully, and the issue continue, then open this link to learn How to reinstall macOS from macOS Recovery.

We trust these steps will resolve the issue.

Keep us posted.

Hello aishwariya129,

We want you to be able to get back to surfing the web with Safari, so let's see what might be happening there.

Safe mode was a good step to help isolate.

Restart your Mac, then hold down the Shift key while opening Safari, this doesn't change the setting, but Safari forgets any windows that were open the last time you quit the app. Then follow the steps in this resource: If Safari is slow, stops responding, quits unexpectedly, or has other issues

See if that does the trick.

Opening in another admin user account is not working. Safe mode is also not working. A dialog box with "Safari quit unexpectedly" is getting displayed.

I tried pasting into a reply but it is exceeding the word limit. So I created a separate doc file, and attached it. I have not attached screenshot. The pastebin link is as follows - https://pastebin.com/MpA0g1PH

Thanks!
