AT&T U-verse on Apple TV 4k

I have AT&T U-verse cable TV and a new Apple TV 4k. I find a U-verse app in the App store on my iPad, but cannot find it when I search for the app on the Apple TV 4k. Can I use the U-verse app on my Apple TV box and watch U-verse through the Apple TV box rather than the AT&T cable box?

What you need to do is to let the Apple TV know that your provider is AT&T U-verse. For example, if you want to watch content from the History Channel on your Apple TV, you install the History Channel app on the Apple TV and when you are setting up the History Channel it will ask what your Cable/Satellite provider . At that point follow the on-screen prompts and once connected to your provider it will allow you to view content from that channel on your Apple TV. I happen to use DirecTV and did this with all the channels I want to watch on my Apple TV. It's a one time settup for each channel so keep your AT&T U-Verse account and login info handy.
